It’s hard to believe it’s been 24 years...
On September 11, 2001, I was sitting in a cubicle at the corporate office of The Home Depot. A coworker nearby told me a plane had hit the World Trade Center. Like many others, I assumed it was some kind of accident...
We made our way to
the corporate gym... not to work out, but because it had TVs.
That’s where we stood in silence, watching live coverage. And that’s when we saw the second plane hit.
The ride home that day with my buddy was quiet. Neither of us spoke as we listened to the news unfold on the
radio.
The weight of it all was overwhelming.
Fast forward to today… life looks very different.
I work in the fitness and nutrition world now, not just helping people lose weight, but helping them
discover who they can be and truly thrive. This is a blessing I don't take for granted.
I’m coming up on 20 years of marriage to Sabrina this December. Our boys are 14 and 12, and by February 2026, I’ll officially be the dad of two teenagers. (Pray for me, ha!)
I’ve even discovered a love for yard work.
Cutting the grass has become one of those “simple joys” I’ll actually miss in the winter. (Never thought I’d say that back in 2001.)
And most of all, my faith has grown.
On a day like today, I can’t help but pause and reflect.
Where I was then… where I am now… and just how much I have to be grateful for.
So my only message for you today is this:
Don’t take the people and moments in your life for granted.
Hug your kids/grandkids. Tell your spouse or loved one you appreciate them.
Check in on that friend you haven’t talked to in a while.
Because we’re not promised tomorrow.
Grateful
for you,
Mike
