Before we cover the simplest, easiest way to increase your protein, you absolutely need to know the research Is conclusive -
A Quality Protein Decrease Total and Abdominal
Fat
This is not some hype-y claim.
This is Scientific Fact.
Published in Nutrition, Metabolism, and Cardiovascular Diseases, researchers found that on a high protein versus standard protein
diet, overweight men and women with higher than median triglyceride (fat in the bloodstream) levels:
- Lost 19% more weight
- Lost 26.7% more total fat
- Lost 37.6% more abdominal fat
We all know that you have a greater chance of losing all the weight you want if you can stick to what you’re doing.
Well, researchers have discovered that shake-based diets are easier to stick to than traditional whole food diets.
Don't go running to Costco quite yet for your protein powder...
All proteins are NOT created equal.
1. Quality of protein included in the shake.
Often times, protein shakes
are mainly made from whey concentrate because it’s the cheapest to make. It’s full of lactose, which many folks are sensitive to. Apparently, 65% of the population has some form of lactose sensitivity.
2. Sweeteners and thickeners.
Protein powder without sweetener tastes revolting - somewhat the way your gym socks in high school smelled.
In order to make them palatable, manufactures often add in sugar alcohols like mannitol, sorbitol, and xylitol. And to thicken it up, they more often than not, add in carrageenan.
Sugar alcohols are not completely digestible and ferment in your intestines, causing bloating and gas. And carrageenan has been shown to trigger inflammation and allergic reactions in the body.
3. Oligosaccharides.
These are short-chain carbohydrates that are fermented in your gut by bacteria. These are often found in vegan protein powders.
4. Bacteria.
Just as it sounds, not all protein manufacturers keep their
warehouses or manufacturing processes 100% sterile. So, you guessed it - bacteria can and do grow. And just a few of those little buggers can make you feel not-so-great.
I get asked all the time what the best protein powder is.
Or...do you need a protein powder and a greens powder? If you're over 40, you
may want to listen to this...
Until recently, I would name off a couple of products that are good... but it would be one for protein, the other for greens (a quality greens powder helps with cravings, inflammation, and a number of other benefits for those 40 and older).
That's why I strongly
recommend this Cinnamon Toast Crunch protein. The truth is, the ones that are good for you usually have a bad aftertaste or taste like chalk or mowed grass lol... ...and of the few that actually do taste good - almost all of them are packed with sugar, chemicals, and man-made toxic ingredients that your body won’t even recognize as food. To be honest, it sat on my counter for several days when I ordered mine to try out. It included easy-to-digest egg and hemp proteins, greens, bee pollen, berries, coconut, and a ton of really amazing ingredients. And it had nothing suspect or artificial in it. But I let it sit there on the counter... and I couldn't bring myself to blend it up because I thought there was no way all
those superfoods were going to taste good. So finally, I decided to give it a try. Already telling myself I wasn't going to like it. Surprisingly, I loved it.
Why I was surprised is because I'm a very picky
eater with very picky tastes. I LOVE sweet stuff lol.
I loved it so much, I'm driving my wife crazy talking about it ever since I got it.
This protein shake tastes ah-mazing and contains 18 of the healthiest and most delicious superfoods in the world, plus 2 servings of fruits and veggies in every
scoop.
And, it's less than 100 calories, yet surprisingly satisfying!
To losing 37.6% more belly fat and actually enjoying it,
