Neato Diet? So here's what happened...
The Neato diet is just like the Keto diet, except... not really. It's not even close to the Keto diet. But it did serve me well, and it will do well for you, too. The only downside
to it?...
It's not "sexy" like the Keto diet. You see, the Keto diet is being marketed HARD lately because of its popularity. It's the "cool kid" of diets right now.Â
For instance, at the checkout line, I spotted an energy drink called, "Keto Shot", which was
sitting right next to "Energy Shot". They both had caffeine. They both had B vitamins. They both had a twist top.
Â
Marketing at its finest. :)Â
For the record,I'm not against the Keto diet (although I know it
wouldn't be a good fit for me. Any diet with no pancakes? No thanks.)Â
Â
And please don't "sell" me on something stupid like cauliflower high protein, "keto" pancakes, either. 🤢
So here's the "Neato Diet" that helped me
lose 115+lbs and keep it off for 20+ years (I decided to make a change in 2003). Â
1) Take inventoryÂ
Â
Simply take note of what you eat now and ask yourself, "How can I improve
this?"Â
Â
Is it breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, or all of it? (For me, it was all of it lol.) Don't worry about "labeling" it. Just focus on how to improve it.Â
Â
For example: an apple and almonds VS a candy bar at the vending
machine.Â
Â
Boom. That's an improvement. Easy enough, right?Â
Â
That's neato.
2)
Don't make sudden, drastic changes to your diet.Â
Â
That's right. You're not going to go from donuts, pizza, and burgers to kale salads and chicken breasts. That's overwhelming and asking for burnout.Â
Â
So in week 1, aim to improve
your breakfast and that's it. 🤯Â
Â
Doable right?Â
Â
Then move into the next meal or snack once you master that first meal or snack.Â
Â
That's neato.
3) Don't do this with exercise...
Â
Not exercising at all? Well, starting tomorrow, you'll hit the gym 6 days a week and be extremely sore all the time because no
pain, no gain! Yay! 😡Â
Â
Just kidding.Â
Â
Exercise for 15 minutes, twice a week at first. Master that until it becomes a habit.Â
Â
Hey, that's manageable, huh?Â
Â
Then you can add a third day, some brisk walks, etc. But do this in small steps (small steps = small victories = momentum).Â
Â
That's neato.
4) Ignore the labels.
Â
Quit worrying about labeling what you eat. Is it low carb? Low fat? Paleo? Keto?Â
Â
That's stressful.Â
Â
Ask yourself this instead, "Is this better than what I've been doing?"Â
Â
If
the answer is yes, you're making progress. Much simpler, right?Â
Â
That's neato.Â
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the NEATO formula.Â
Â
It's really boring. It doesn't "sell" well, but it works. Only a few are willing to do it because there's more of an adrenaline rush finding the magic bullet. (Hint: there are none).Â
Â
Does this actually work?
Â
Well, let's see...
Â
It can help you keep up with your grandchildren...
Â
Â
It can help you shed unwanted body fat and not be miserable...
Â
It can brings results that your family can even see...
Â
Â
It can help you have a great relationship with food and eat without the guilt...
Â
Â
Oh yeah, and it's easier than you think, too. Your health then becomes "automatic" and no longer a chore...
For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems sad and painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness [right
standing with God and a lifestyle and attitude that seeks conformity to God’s will and purpose].
