This is the strangest time for most people when it comes to fitness and food.
Â
Summer isn't exactly ideal for staying super consistent with tracking macros or making the best nutritional choices.
Â
Nor is fall the "ideal" time as we have Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas on the horizon.Â
Â
I'm saying this after our kids fall break and celebrating both my wife and younger sister's birthdays with tacos and desserts this weekend...
Â
And battling a knee injury in
combination with all this, I'm far from my routine. And you may be in the same situation.
Â
Every once in a while I have a "groove" where I can stick to my routine, eat well, and get my workout in...
Â
But lately, that seems to be the exception more than the norm these days.
Â
And that's ok.
Â
There's actually value in these moments.
Â
There's a key differentiator during these times where things are less than "optimal".
Â
And that differentiator is...
Â
Are you using it as a reason to not try at all?
Â
Meaning, when you have a couple of days or even a week where everything is chaotic and not going the way you'd hoped...
Â
Do you use that as an excuse to stop trying altogether and to wait until things settle down?
Â
If so, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but...
Â
You're always going to struggle.
Â
You see, during these strange times when your normal routine is out of whack...
Â
It's simply about doing something.
Â
It's not about being perfect.
Â
It's not even about being
an 8 out of 10 consistent.
Â
It's truly about doing what you can, regardless of the situation.
Â
This weekend I ate too much Snickerdoodle Cobbler and was nowhere close to my ideal routine.
Â
It's been
pouring down here in GA, too...
Â
But I still got 8,700+ steps and a workout (currently aiming for either 10,000 steps or a workout + 7500 steps)
Â
You see, there's always something, no matter what.
Â
If you can
truly embrace that mindset...
Â
That there's always something you can do no matter the circumstances...
Â
Your success is inevitable.
Â
Hope that helps.
Â
Your friend and coach,
Mikey
Â
PS - This is exactly why I take things ONE week at a time with my coaching clients. It's been one of the biggest reasons for their success. When "life" happens, I show them how to "pivot" VS give up.Â
Â
If you struggle with consistency or motivation, or perhaps you're tired of trying and stopping, I put together a short solution for you here.
