Some people can't stand to just "stay active" on their off-training days, especially if you're like me and enjoying additional treats this time of. year. It can get people "antsy" to do something when they feel their clothes getting tighter, too lol.
In fact, I like to stay active on my "off" days, but without wrecking my body or burning out.
It's part of my "secret" to keeping off the 115lbs I've lost.
Now the bad news is that you might run into 1 of 2 problems when it comes to "staying active":
Problem #1 - You despise walking or
generally "staying active" and you'd rather do some kind of actual exercise on your "off" day.
Problem #2 - You already do something to stay active, but your muscles are constantly fatigued or sore, and perhaps you feel burned out.
Enter... "Core
Cardio"
When you combine serious lifting (6-12 reps) or strategic bodyweight exercises with just enough strategic "core cardio", you can shrink fat even faster around your stomach.
It's also a great way to exercise 6 days a week without getting burned out or causing muscle
soreness...
... if you do it right.
Here's what it would look like. Here's a template:
Day 1: Resistance training (strength) using supersets and perhaps a finisher
(optional)
Day 2: Core Cardio
Day 3: Resistance (strength) using a circuit
Day 4: Core Cardio
Day 5: Resistance Training (strength) using straight sets or
supersets along with a finisher
Day 6: Core Cardio
Day 7: Recovery (mobility/flexibility routine optional)
Key things to remember:
1) If you "spread" your workouts to 6 days a week, they need to be SHORT.
2) You should follow a structured program with built-in progressions, allowing you to burn more calories as you go through it each week
3) Your Core Cardio workouts shouldn't be grueling. They should be
enough to stimulate your metabolism but allow you to recover enough for your main strength workouts.
Some of the benefits of doing frequent but shorter sessions are:
A) Natural way to decrease your hunger and cravings
B)
Experience more energy without relying on caffeine
C) Faster fat loss
Now for some good news...
When you combine this with a simple "shift" with certain combinations of foods, you'll experience nearly 4X as much fat
loss as traditional dieting and exercise.
Yes, really almost 4X...when I used this with my coaching clients, they averaged 3.7X more fat loss than anything they tried before.
