There's this weird "reset" that I use that has helped me stay "lifestyle lean" year round.
Â
I call it the Reset Meal (or Snack).
Â
Here's how it works...
Â
As someone who always struggled
with all or nothing thinking, I used to have a really hard time getting back on track after a misstep.
Â
When I was 300+lbs, I'd overindulge and then say "Ugh, forget it" and would keep the spiral going for days or even weeks at a time.
Â
Eventually, I'd feel so gross and disappointed in myself that I'd
start all over again and the cycle would repeat itself.
Â
So I switched to using a "Reset Meal or Snack".
Â
I wanted to train my brain to associate this one particular meal as the trigger to getting back on track.
Â
Kinda like how your brain immediately processes a red light as "stop."
Â
I wanted to do the same with my nutrition.
Â
After some experimenting, I found an easy perfect Reset Meal...
Â
Mix in a bowl until there's a "pudding like" consistency, adding just a splash of water while mixing with a spoon. Now as you can imagine, doing 2 scoops of protein powder and 2 tbsp of peanut butter, you're going to be full for a long time. But for a snack, use just 1 scoop of powder and 1 tbsp of peanut butter.
Â
I've made this so many times that it requires zero thinking and
it works with vanilla or chocolate, or just about any flavor really.
Â
Plus, it gets me a ton of protein.
Â
But the most valuable part of this meal is that my brain recognizes it as the mark of consistency.
Â
It
sets me up for success AND it also prevents me from spiraling for too long, especially this time of year. :)
Â
The goal of a Reset Meal is that it should be easy to make, high in protein, and something you train your brain to recognize as a trigger for getting back on track and / or staying consistent.
Â
So, take a quick 60 seconds and ask yourself, "What can be my reset meal"?
