It's been working for 10+ years (and it's what I encourage my clients to do)
It's the "calm before the storm"...
No, we're not expecting a thunderstorm. I'm talking about my ability to eat on Thanksgiving Day.
I said what I
said. :)
But there's something way more important I want to share with you today that is like putting Thanksgiving on caffeine and it will make you have a better perspective in your life.
Is that OK with you? (If not, just delete this email and move on)...
There's one thing I do every morning, no matter what.
It doesn't matter if things are going my way or if I'm struggling...
Every morning, after I roll out of bed, take my probiotic, and fix my coffee, I head to my home office (and
this time of year, I put on my portable heater - brrrrr!)
I then sit down on the couch and take out my gratitude journal. I write down at least ONE thing I'm grateful for from the previous day, no matter how my day went.
That's the key - even if I had a "bad day", I REQUIRE
myself to write down something I'm thankful for.
And you know what?
The second I am done writing what I'm thankful for, I realize that perhaps my day wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was.
Listen,
I challenge you to start doing this. It only takes like 2 minutes...
... and today is the PERFECT day to try it.
You will, without a doubt, transform your perspective, and because of that, it will change your attitude. (Just give it some time and be consistent).
And hey, it sure does beat anxiety! ;)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
- Philippians 4:6
And of course, Happy Thanksgiving!
Mikey
PS - By the way, "Are you sure you want to do that?" were the words that came out of my wife's mouth when I told her what I was doing on Black Friday.
You'll see. :)
