Let me share a real-life example of why consistently doing more or restricting yourself harder can actually result in getting further from your ideal weight...
I recently
chatted with Beth via email (not her real name), and she was beyond frustrated. She couldn’t understand why reaching her goal weight felt like an impossible uphill battle.
For years, Beth had been on the up and down roller coaster—repeating the same process, losing and then regaining the same 20+lbs (even though her ultimate goal was losing around 45lbs).
Recently, she participated in a local Weight Watchers group, which seemed promising at first. She started strong, followed all the rules, and within weeks, she noticed some changes.
However, as the program progressed, things got restrictive. The program required cutting more and more points (disguised as calories). And if she
didn't lose any one week, she was told she wasn't reducing her points enough. But...
By the end of the program, Beth had seen some progress, losing about 15lbs but soon after, everything unraveled...
The cravings hit, her energy plummeted, and the progress she had worked so hard for was undone. She
gained back everything she lost.
Sound familiar?
This isn’t about a lack of self-discipline. It’s a physiological response.
When you push your body to the extreme—whether it’s cutting back on food or
pushing it too hard in exercise or even in your work—your body or mind fights back. It craves balance.
And that’s exactly what I told Beth.
What if there was a different approach?
What if you could achieve your ideal weight, feeling more energy and confident without depriving yourself or burning out?
What if you could see progress while enjoying the things you love—like family time, social events, or chocolate (or any other of your traditional favorites like my pancakes)?
What if, instead of
chasing temporary results, you focused on a long-term strategy that builds, restores, and optimizes your metabolism, your energy, and your success for good?
That’s exactly what I'm doing for Beth now—no more racing to the bottom.
Instead, we’re focusing making small shifts that matches her "weight loss
personality" that aligns with her goals, personality, and her life.
Quite frankly, she's getting results faster than expected. But most importantly, she'll have the tools to stay there for good because one secret ingredient to losing fat and having more energy is having fun...
Yes Beth, they do. :)
No more yo-yo cycles. No more frustration. Just real, sustainable
success.
