2024 word of the year:
"Shifts"
One of the things I encourage my coaching clients to do is make small "shifts" with their lifestyle VS a specific diet.
It sets them up for sustainability.
Example: Let's say you love to eat cereal for breakfast. A "shift" would be to simply eat less cereal and
adding a source of protein (an egg for example) VS eliminating the bowl of cereal and having a protein smoothie (especially if you don't like protein smoothies lol)
You can even "shift" your coffee to help you in 2024...
But first, take a look at just some of the benefits of coffee:
[1] Can Improve Energy Levels and Reaction
Times
After you drink coffee, the caffeine is absorbed into your bloodstream. From there, it travels to your brain. In the brain, caffeine blocks the inhibitory neurotransmitter adenosine. When this happens, the amount of other neurotransmitters like norepinephrine and dopamine increases, leading to enhanced firing of neurons.
Many studies show that coffee improves various aspects of brain function — including memory,
mood, vigilance, energy levels, reaction times and general mental function.
[2] Helps Burn Fat
Several studies show that coffee can boost your metabolic rate by 3–11%.
Other studies indicate that caffeine can specifically increase fat burning by as much as 10% in obese individuals and 29% in lean people.
[3] Fights Depression
Depression is a serious mental disorder that causes a significantly reduced quality
of life. In a Harvard study published in 2011, those who drank coffee every day had a 20% lower risk of becoming depressed.
Here's how you can make a simple "shift" with your coffee to make it even better and it only takes around 10 seconds.
For starters, this 10-sec coffee trick can:
1) Increase fat-burning
throughout your day.
2) Enhance coffee's natural benefits (wakefulness, energy, cognitive function, etc)
3) Eliminate coffee's unwanted drawbacks (energy crash, jitters, elevated heart rate, etc)
And all of that is just the tip of the iceberg :)
