Do you remember me talking about a woman telling me, "It is a chore just to bend down and tie my shoes".
She wasn't really looking to lose weight (although she admitted she would like to lose 5-10lbs), but for her, it was all about wanting to move easier.
I can totally understand...
As I’m aging (and my clients), I realize the impact and importance of having mobility and flexibility.
I’m 49 and playing hoops with guys in their 20s. I need all the help I can get LOL.
Maybe you don’t play hoops, but I would imagine you’d like to move easier in your day-to-day activities and not feel so “stiff”.
Perhaps you’d like to get down on the floor with your children or grandchildren and not worry about how long it will take to get up.
And... yes,
lack of mobility/flexibility makes exercise "unfun".
If you're miserable, you won't be motivated to move. If you don't move, you're eating. If you're eating, you're gaining weight (or at least not losing it).
Not to mention having better mobility and flexibility
enhances the results from exercise (going deeper, etc. works more muscle = burning more fat).
You can tell a difference with just one session of around 10-20 minutes a week if you do it right. Obviously, 2-3 sessions is better, but if one per week is doable, start now.
So with my coaching students who wanted to move easier but without being bored or having to do suffer through complex Yoga routines, I came up with Mobility and Flexibility "Hybrids"...
