I've been on this kick now for around 12 years and love it...
I didn't "discover" coffee until I was 37. My roommate at a fitness conference suggested I start with a cappuccino as that is the "gateway" to coffee lol.
I've been in love ever since. :)
A few days a week, I do have an energy drink (typically between 0 and 20 calories) in addition to a cup of coffee.
That's around 400mg of caffeine.
Now is that too much? Well, it depends...
Factors such as body weight, medications you may take, and individual sensitivity, “too much” can vary from person to person.
For healthy adults, the FDA has cited 400 milligrams a day—that's around four cups of coffee—as an amount not generally associated with dangerous, negative
effects.
However, there is wide variation in both how sensitive people are to the effects of caffeine and how fast they metabolize it (break it down).
My wife gets anxious (and sometimes irritable - hope she's not reading this LOL) if she drinks more than roughly 200mg of caffeine
a day. I typically have between 300-400mg/day.
But can you use your coffee as a weapon for weight loss? Let's see...
A recent study published in Clinical Nutrition evaluated the associations between changes in coffee and caffeine consumption and fat tissue changes.
It's not just any study, either. This study used 6 years of data.
And...
The data was based on men and women AT LEAST 55 years of age.
The results?
Lower body fat was evident for participants who drank coffee.
And...
The authors found that shifting from no/low to
moderate consumption of coffee was associated with a decline in VAT (visceral adipose tissue - which is body fat deep inside the belly, wrapped around the organs, including the liver and intestines.), trunk fat, and total fat.
The findings suggest that moderate levels of coffee could become a part of the weight management strategy among older people with obesity.
Yet, there is better news for coffee drinkers...
Latest studies have found that one tiny tweak to your coffee puts your body into fat-burning mode for the rest of the day.
Imagine combining this with what we
already know from the study above...
This coffee trick takes less than 10 seconds, yet it instantly cranks up your metabolism and boosts your health, energy, and well-being at the same time, while suppressing your appetite and cravings (great for this time of year lol).
Here's how to "doctor up your coffee" to burn more fat.
Later tater,
